Synthesis route :
Floropal® is synthesized by a Prins reaction, reacting acetaldehyde with alpha-methylstyrene, in an acid medium. The synthesis is done in one step.
Synthesis precursor :
Floropal® is not a precursor to the synthesis of another compound of olfactory interest.
Isomerism :
Floropal® contains two asymmetric carbons. One of the most powerful isomers is present at around 60% in marketed Floropal®. A distillation allows to increase the proportion and the obtained product is called Floropal® Heart.
IsoAmyl Phenyl acetate is a constitutional isomer of Floropal®. However, they do not share the same smell, rosy and gourmand in the case of IsoAmyl Phenyl acetate.
